Position Summary

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting Rocket’s accounting and financial reporting functions, including month-end close, SEC filings, technical accounting, and internal controls. This individual will collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to drive accurate financial reporting, maintain compliance with U.S. GAAP, and support Rocket’s obligations as a publicly traded organization.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the accurate and timely preparation of the monthly and annual closing process.
  • Post recurring monthly journal entries.
  • Review GL postings to ensure correct recording of transactions.
  • Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and update monthly to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Prepare the balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other financial reports/packages as deemed necessary.
  • Provide detailed analysis for month end closing.
  • Assist in the implementation of effective accounting controls and business processes.
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Support financial statement audits and reports.
  • Research and implementation of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Assist in the accurate and timely preparation and filing of the company’s 10-K, 10-Q filings, including assisting in drafting footnote disclosures, and assisting with the issuance of the earnings release. Work with relevant stakeholders to address comments on filings; prepare supporting schedules.
  • Assist with technical accounting research and documentation of new policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the internal control systems to safeguard assets, ensure accurate financial reporting, and mitigate risks.
  • Special projects and other assignments as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA license a plus.
  • 4 years of relevant and progressive experience, with at least 2 years of experience in an accounting and financial reporting team of a publicly traded company, with preference to the life sciences industry.
  • Combination of public accounting and/or public company industry experience strongly preferred with experience with a Big 4 or national firm a plus.
  • Experience working in an ERP environment and using financial systems effectively.
  • Experience with NetSuite a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization.
  • Strong analytical skills with high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong Excel skills, including the ability to work with large data sets, build reconciliations, and perform meaningful analysis.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document and explain accounting matters.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 to $133,000.

For U.S.-based candidates, this is an at-will position, and Rocket reserves the right to adjust the range at hire or during the year due to market shifts.
