Position Summary

Serving as a Commercial Leadership Team member, the candidate is responsible for leading the company Commercial Operations and Business Excellence Strategy and Execution. The role scope includes Go to market commercial models design & recommendations, performance management metrics, business insights and analytics.

 

Responsible in building, acquiring, and overseeing capabilities (processes, tools and services) that contribute to Company’s overall performance, competitiveness, and operational excellence. Under incumbent’s leadership, the team is accountable for generating deep customer and market-driven actionable insights and making key recommendations to senior and commercial leadership.

 

Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for designing, building and managing several business-critical programs to drive new product launches; product adoption, market share, sales, customer reach; building actionable customer insights applicable in strategic and tactical plans; sales, marketing and market access/specialty pharmacy analytics, field force operations support and demand forecasting.

Responsibilities

  • Drive key strategic commercial business decisions by initiating, directing, and executing insights and analytics projects, including steering project design and execution, interfacing with vendors and consultants, and presenting results and strategic insights in a timely manner and within budget.
  • Build capability and processes to measure performance along leading indicators of brand performance including a brand/company dashboard for monitoring performance across key market segments and use of rigorous primary and secondary sources of data.
  • Steer brand analytics, market access analytics, including strategic report development for sales and market access, pharmacy analytics support, and copay support. Build and deploy advanced commercial analytics encompassing strategic opportunistic analytics, predictive modeling, and ROI analyses that identify and drive actionable insights.
  • Lead and assess commercial platform systems and go to market models design & recommendations, market entry strategy (including external BD&L deals)
  • Oversee market research projects, including product positioning and customer segmentation using both primary market research data and secondary physician/patient data.
  • Lead demand forecasting and provide input to financial forecasting and budgeting processes.
  • Leverage marketing mix analyses to measure effectiveness of sales force and marketing promotional activities.
  • Enhance operational capabilities to drive efficiency across the Commercial organization.
  • Oversee sales operations functional area, including core areas of field sales incentive compensation, sample accountability, territory targeting, alignment and optimization, roster management, fleet administration, and general field force support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related area. MBA/graduate degree a plus
  • 12 years of commercial leadership experience and experience working with market insights, payer, BD&L partners and market access analytics, sales and marketing analytics, market research, sales force operations and strategy within pharmaceutical/biotech industry. Experience in life sciences consulting is additionally helpful.
  • Functional experience in finance, marketing, and/or sales considered a strong plus.
  • Proficiency and expertise required working with pharmaceutical data sources (e.g., IMS, SDI, WKH etc.).
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of analytical techniques. Significant experience conducting complex analytic assignments in a fast-paced environment with 3-5 years of experience in complex financial analysis and modeling strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience working in both small and large company relevant areas and demonstrated record in applying a small company lean mindset.
  • Experience in building and leading high performing teams and driving cross-functional initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, identify key issues and value drivers, and translate strategic insights into an appropriate analytical framework.
  • Strong collaboration and team effectiveness skills.
  • Excellent communications skills, including presenting complex information and insights effectively.
